US fought the WWII by sending the poor and the minorities
while the "patriots" back home were hanging the rest of 'em.
This is the unwritten and the untold.
"Southern trees bear a strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.
Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop."
terribly wonderful.
this portrays the poem well although you didn't use the imagery.

Heres a bumper sticker Id like to see: We are the proud parents of a child whos self-esteem is sufficient that he doesnt need us promoting his minor scholastic achievements on the back of our car. -George Carlin
Thank you. Love them. I couldn't list everything and only picked the things freshest in my memory. I hope I got the gist of the genre. GYBE ROCKS!
The first person I can think of is Billie Holiday. It's a very beautiful song she sings on lynchings and racism, though I like Tori Amos' version a little more.
It's kind of hard for me to avoid these topics as they are a huge part of my heritage and the culture in my area is very vocal around such things (ingorantly and informed, impassioned and righteous), but at the same time I support knowledge over complaining on either side. I guess, every now and then, I become so used to being reminded of the past, hearing stories, and seeing images I get anesthitized. It's nice to see such poignant art around, if only to remind me to look into it more.

Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state.
I like it, in that 'strong message' grudging way. I love how you found this way to convey something.
Also, you merged the two nearly seamlessly.

Nice taste in music (GYBE!) and books..
I now suppose you know who performed the poem above and why.
